Anju Dodiya

Anju Dodiya is a modern artist whose work incorporates aspects from history, mythology, and fantasy. She is well-known for her passionate watercolor paintings in which she frequently plays the lead role. Dodiya is a watercolor painter who draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including tapestries and paintings from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, miniature paintings, Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints, European poetry, and film. She is also renowned for using strong watercolor lines in her paintings. In 1986, Dodiya graduated with a BFA in painting from Mumbai's Sir JJ School of Art.
Dodiya pays close attention to her characters' inner lives when painting them, bringing their inner turmoil to the fore.
Dodiya resides and works in Mumbai at the time of writing.
